792 -CH COURTHOUSE UNION <br />14.6 Employees referred to in this section whose employment is terminated by their <br />death, reduction in force, dismissal, retirement or by resignation, and who have <br />accumulated vacation leave, to the maximum total stated in 14.2, as specified in <br />this section, shall be paid therefore under the contract of employment or to their <br />estate if they are deceased, or if the employee in case of voluntary resignation <br />has submitted adequate notice of termination. <br />14.7 Annual leave is computed according to the anniversary date of hire. <br />14.8 Annual leave may be taken in a minimum of one-quarter (1/4) hour increments. <br />14.9 Upon termination of employment, the accrual of annual leave will be prorated <br />for the month of departure to the effective date of termination. <br />ARTICLE XV — SICK LEAV <br />15.1 Use of Sick Leave for illness or injury may be allowed all employees for any of the <br />following reasons: <br />(1) Because of, and during illness or injury incapacitating the employee to <br />perform his duties or by having a scheduled appointment with a <br />licensed person, pertaining to all matters of health, as governed by <br />the State of Washington. <br />(2) By reason of exposure to contagious disease during such period as his <br />attendance on duty would jeopardize the health of fellow workers or <br />the public (upon request, a doctor's certificate shall be furnished by <br />the employee documenting exposure to contagious disease), or <br />(3) Because of illness in the immediate family requiring the attendance of <br />the employee. <br />For the purpose of subsection (3) above, "immediate family" shall <br />include only persons related by blood or marriage, guardianship or <br />legal adoption in degree of consanguinity of wife, husband, parent, <br />grandparent, brother, sister, child or grandchild of the employee and <br />other relatives residing in the employee's household. <br />15.2 Any employee who for any reason must take sick leave shall as soon as possible <br />notify his immediate supervisor, department head, or elected official. <br />15.3 Sick leave is earned by a full-time employee of Kittitas County at the rate of eight <br />(8) hours per month for an employee assigned to a forty (40) hour workweek for <br />Page <br />15 <br />
