KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />PUBLIC WORKS — BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />WORK SESSION DATE: March 14, 2016 <br />TOPIC: Jacobs On-call Floodplain Permit Review <br />Contract Supplement <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Authorize the Public Works <br />Director to sign the contract supplement <br />with Jacobs <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R. Cook <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve the requested contract supplement with Jacobs and authorize the Public <br />Works Director to sign said supplement. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In January 2015, Public Works signed a professional services contract with <br />Jacobs supporting several functions: floodplain planning and water rights <br />research. Specifically, this task order focused on securing Washington State <br />Department of Transportation (WSDOT) water rights available in the upper <br />basins of Kittitas County. <br />In January 2016, the original contractwas supplemented adding: planning, <br />environmental, and preliminary engineering services. This work focuses on the <br />proposed land deal with WSDOT. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Recently, Public Works has tasked Jacobs with floodplain development permit <br />review. It is unknown at this time the amount of support needed for 2016. The <br />vacant Planner III will be hired by the Water Resource Manager once he/she is in <br />place.
