KITTITAS COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
PUBLIC WORKS — BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
WORK SESSION DATE: March 14, 2016
TOPIC: Jacobs On-call Floodplain Permit Review
Contract Supplement
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Authorize the Public Works
Director to sign the contract supplement
with Jacobs
LEAD STAFF: Mark R. Cook
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the requested contract supplement with Jacobs and authorize the Public
Works Director to sign said supplement.
BACKGROUND:
In January 2015, Public Works signed a professional services contract with
Jacobs supporting several functions: floodplain planning and water rights
research. Specifically, this task order focused on securing Washington State
Department of Transportation (WSDOT) water rights available in the upper
basins of Kittitas County.
In January 2016, the original contractwas supplemented adding: planning,
environmental, and preliminary engineering services. This work focuses on the
proposed land deal with WSDOT.
DISCUSSION:
Recently, Public Works has tasked Jacobs with floodplain development permit
review. It is unknown at this time the amount of support needed for 2016. The
vacant Planner III will be hired by the Water Resource Manager once he/she is in
place. Several additional months of support are likely.
The Public Works Director has no authority currently authorizing professional
development contracting.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
Funding is available from several months of vacancy at the Planner Ili position.
ATTACHMENTS:
Jacobs task order contract, supplement #1 and proposer! supplement #2.
PUBLIC WORKS BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
