KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: June 10, 2019 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing Chair's <br />Signature on Change Order No. 1 with Big R Bridge, Big <br />Boulder Creek Bridge Replacement <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works (PW) is currently working to create a <br />contract addendum for the Big Boulder Creek Bridge <br />replacement project. The Big R bridge was originally <br />intended to be permanently installed on deep foundations <br />after providing temporary access at the site. PW now <br />intends to leave the bridge in a temporary condition until <br />summer of 2020 when a permanent bridge will be installed. <br />The decision to install for winter/spring of 2020 <br />necessitates a change order adding wood running planks to <br />the bridge deck. This allows for the bridge to go into Pfd <br />inventory following project completion. The cost of the <br />change order is $9,329 plus applicable sales tax in the state <br />of WA. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to Authorize the Chair's signature <br />on Change Order No. 1 to the Big R Big Boulder Creek <br />bridge replacement project. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; Change Order No. 1 with Big R Bridge <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
