ShOCENTURY
WEST
E N G 1 N E E R! N G
Conduct topographic surveying for an area 500 feet wide centered on the Runway
7-25 centerline by 300 feet beyond the new Runway 25 end of pavement:
o Collect topographic survey points on a 50'x50' max grid spacing.
Elevations on pavement areas shall be accurate to 0.01 feet and elevations in
unpaved areas shall be accurate to 0.05 feet.
Incorporate the data collected from the survey into the digital terrain model that
was developed as part of the Airfield Environmental Assessment project. A contour
map at a scale of 1"=50' will be developed for use in the design and shall be provided
to the engineer in PDF and AutoCAD or XML format. The contour interval shall be
0.5 feet.
2. Clear Approach Field Verification
Perform field survey to check and verify the approach surfaces of Runway 7 and
Runway 25. Field survey for this task will include:
• Three shots/views for each runway end. For each runway end/threshold, set up
instrument on runway centerline and each edge of approach surface. (Locations will
be offset from runway end/threshold as necessary to allow for instrument height.)
• Set instrument to view approach surface slope (5.0% for Runway 07 and 5.0% for
Runway 25); observe if any obstructions appear within approach slope angle. Take
photos through instrument view finder to show results.
• If any trees, towers, fences, roadways, and other structures or terrain features
appear to be obstructions to the approach surfaces based on these field checks,
provide information regarding obstruction type (tree vs. structure, etc.) and general
location (east/west of runway centerline, etc) so that additional follow up can be
included with final design scope if necessary.
Primary Task 2 Deliverables:
• Survey base map (CAD and PDF)
TASK 3 — GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION (HWA Geosciences)
Geotechnical Analysis on Runway 7-25 will be undertaken to verify existing conditions of
the pavement section, subgrade, and aggregate base materials of Runway 7-25 to inform
the pavement rehabilitation design.
5of11
