BrewFest, as well as CWU arts, athletics, and cultural events that <br />bring both area residents and visitors into the downtown. Recognize <br />the important role these events play in building community and in <br />supporting downtown businesses. <br />Reframe some of the language in the Economic Development chapter to <br />be proactive and reference specific economic development <br />organizations and strategies. <br />Re-word Goal ED-1 to recognize the distinct roles for the City in <br />supporting economic development (i.e. strategic investments and <br />local initiatives) and actively implementing programs (i.e. <br />affordable housing and transportation) that create new <br />opportunities. Provide additional language to Goal ED-1, Policy A <br />regarding the local organizations that affect economic development, <br />including the local schools. <br />Provide additional language to Goal ED-2, Policy B to address <br />creation of "how to" guides for businesses and working within the <br />City (for business creation, land development, building <br />development/rehabilitation); promotion of e~isting businesses-and <br />business opportunities; encouraging innovation; and adding <br />specificity to local economic development groups, strategies, and <br />incentives including Opportunity Zones and Foreign Trade Zones. <br />Rework language in Goal ED-2, Policy D to address current mission <br />of Community Development office as proactive in customer service <br />and encouraging early interaction with the City departments and <br />include language on development of CenterFuse's "How To" guide to <br />working with the city on business, land, and building development. <br />Provide additional language to Goal ED-2, Policy D to address <br />revisions to zoning and land-use changes for light industrial uses <br />and evaluation of the Ellensburg Business Incubator; promotion of <br />light industrial opportunities; and consideration of City utilities <br />and services. <br />Provide additional language to Goal ED-3 to include Central <br />Washington University and development of technical training <br />opportunities. <br />Revise Goal ED-4, Program 4 to reflect initiatives and partnerships <br />with the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce and Ellensburg <br />Downtown Association to develop co-working spaces and pop-up <br />incubator spaces. Provide additional language in Goal ED-4 to <br />address the City's proactive downtown parking strategies. <br />Consider additional language in Goal ED-5 to evaluation and <br />strategies for tourism and the roles of the Kittitas County Chamber <br />of Commerce and Ellensburg Downtown Association.
