Proposal No. ___ (leave blank) RE:TURN TO: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARlMENT
601 N. ANDERSON STREET
ELLENSBURG, WA 98928
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT PROPOSAL
THE PURPOSE OF THIS FORM IS TO CLEARLY OUTLINE INFORMATION REGARDING A
PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE CITY OF ELLENSBURG COMPREHENSIVE PLAN. PROVISION
OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WILL INSURE THAT THE PROPOSAL CONTAINED
HEREIN WILL RECEIVE FULL CONSIDERATION AND THAT THE INDMDUAL MAKING SUCH
PROPOSAL WILL BE ADVISED OF ALL RELEVANT PUBLIC MEETINGS, HEARINGS, ETC ....
NAME\DATE.
Carolyn Honeycutt, City of Ellensburg Economic Development
Director, as Executive Director of CenterFuse
ADDRESS\PHONE NO.
501 North Anderson Street
509-962-7146
DESCRIPTION OF AMENDMENT TO COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Separate the Economic Sectors: Commercial section into two
sections, Commercial and Historic Downtown Commercial, to reflect
the renaissance of the downtown core and its distinguishing awards
and features. Provide additional information to the Tourism section
including additional economic drivers (not just the rodeo events,
CWU, downtown, recreation) and additional statistics on tourism in
Ellensburg.
Create a section about the Public Development Authority and include
reference to partners such as the Ellensb~rg Downtown Association
and Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce.
In the Technology sector section, highlight Ellensburg's close
proximity (1.5-2 hrs drive) to Seattle, one of the top tech hubs in
the nation. Add construction of new $64 million computer science
facility at CWU, which also incubated a block-chain cybersecurity
company in 2019. Recognize that years of rapid growth have
increased costs and strained infrastructure in the Puget Sound area
thereby raising the attractiveness of Ellensburg as a site for
technology businesses.
Provide economic figures and creative place-making in the Arts and
Culture section. Reference additional events such as Jazz in the
Valley, Buskers in the Burg, Dachshunds on Parade and Winterhop
