TASK 7 HYDRAULICS
The original scope of work shown in this task requires an increased level of effort. The original
scope for the Story Creek site was to provide a supporting role to COUNTY staff that had
intended on delivering the hydraulic design and report(s). The new scope directed by the
COUNTY is that the CONSULTANT shall provide the hydraulic analysis and report(s) for the Story
Creek site.
The original scope for the lick Creek site was to provide hydraulic analysis and design for a
short length (approx. 300 feet) of new creek channel from the west side of Teanaway Road to
the east side and reconnect to the existing channel on the east side of the road. The new scope
directed by the COUNTY is to realign the entire Lick Creek channel away from the existing
channel on the east side of the road, and take the new creek channel easterly across the DNR
property (approx. 2000 feet) to a new discharge point into the Teanaway River. The new or
deleted scope is shown below:
TASK 7.1— Story Creek
• Added Scope:
• Hydraulics
Perform hydraulic modeling to ascertain the hydraulic characteristics necessary to
support the design of the new culvert crossing and potential scour countermeasures for
the protection of the roadway prism. The hydraulic model will be developed using
topographic data collected by the County's selected surveyor.
• Bank Stability Assessment and Design
Examine stability of the existing scour protection and creek banks utilizing various
design manuals such as, Integrated Streambank Protection Guidelines (ISPG), HEC -18,
HEC -23, etc.
Identify proposed measures that are acceptable from a channel stability and habitat
perspective.
• Scour Analysis
Compute depth of scour estimates for the proposed culvert crossing and for any
necessary scour countermeasures.
• Team Meetings & Permitting Assistance
♦ Key project elements and findings will be discussed with the services and select
stakeholders as determined by CONSULTANT and COUNTY staff. Likely participants will
include the USACE, WDFW, and potential property owners.
• Documentation
The results of the hydraulic and scour assessment will be summarized in two separate
documents, specifically, a Preliminary Basis of Design and a Final Basis of Design
Report. The report will include a description of the physical characteristics of the site,
Scope of Service—Teanaway Hyd Imp_Amend 01_2018-04-19
Page 4 of 19
