Involve the community-base tourism on local Kittitas County community <br />resources to the extent possible,encouraging local small businesses and <br />civic groups to build partnerships to promote and provide a distinctive, <br />honest visitor experience and market Roslyn,Cle Elum,Ellensburg,and <br />other locales effectively.Help businesses develop approaches to tourism <br />that build on the County's nature,history and culture,including food and <br />drink,famers'markets,artisans,performance arts,etc. <br />This project promotes communityassets and meets well-defined <br />communityneeds.Through multiplecommunity visioning sessions held in <br />2005,citizens noted that opportunitiesfor and access to outdoor <br />recreation are the foundation of life as well as economic drivers in Upper <br />Kittitas County.Local city and county governmentshave identified and <br />continue to identify corridors and trails where the public will continue to <br />have access to recreation facilities.Creative or standard tools such as <br />mitigation or purchasing,as necessary,can be used to offset the <br />increased negativeimpact developmentis having on the public's ability to <br />access outdoor recreation areas.This priority was reaffirmed in 2016 <br />during the Public Visioninq Process for the Kittitas County Comprehensive <br />Plan update.At the Cle Elum meeting,attendeesvoted the natural <br />environmentand parks and recreation as their top two most important <br />priorities. <br />•Goal 7 -Kittitas County Tourism Infrastructure Plan: <br />Protect and enhance destination appeal-encourage Kittitas County <br />businesses to sustain natural habitats,heritage sites,aestheticappeal, <br />and local culture.Prevent degradation by keeping volumesof tourists <br />within maximumacceptable limits.Seek business modelsthat can operate <br />profitably within these limits.Use persuasion,incentives,and legal <br />enforcement as needed. <br />The TTC project will enhance destination appeal and sustain natural <br />habitats by exposing tourists to the natural and historical beauty of Upper <br />Kittitas County.The trail(s)of the project will exposevisitors to the <br />trailheadtowns of Roslyn and Cle Elum,provide deep forest experiences <br />and give access to awe inspiring views of the Cle Elum and Yakima River <br />valleys,the TeanawayValley and the Stuart Range. <br />This appeal will attract tourists and therefore encourage local businesses <br />to sustain the natural habitat and estheticappeal of Cle Elum Ridge. <br />Planning for trail(s)and trail(s)access from both Roslyn and Cle Elum will <br />prevent trail degradation by spreading out the volume of users. <br />•Goal 11 -Kittitas County Tourism Infrastructure Plan: <br />Interpret interactively -engage visitors and hosts in learning about Kittitas <br />County assets and encourage residents to present the environmental,
