•Creates trail access sites,and trail directional signs which allow for easy <br />access to trails that showcase the unique natural areas of Cle Elum Ridge <br />and the TeanawayCommunity Forest. <br />•Enhances wildlife viewing and access to photographing areas --including <br />seasonal migration routes,nesting,and foraging areas of birds and <br />animals. <br />How the project directly increases tourism:As described in this section and <br />throughoutthis application,the creation of a quality user experience via the TTC <br />trail networkwill encourage additionaltourist visitation.Walkers,dog walkers, <br />hikers,runners,bikers,skiers,snowshoers,horseback riders and snowmobilers <br />will be attracted to the trail network.These users bring substantialnew tourist <br />dollars to the cities of Cle Elum and Roslyn as a result of their participation in <br />activities on the TTC trail network. <br />The TTC project is directly applicableto the following high priority items of the <br />Kittitas County Parks,Recreation &Open Space (PROS)Plan (Appendix G -- <br />Capital Facilities Program (CFP)): <br />•Town to Teanaway:Regional Trails System <br />Acquire 243 acres of privately owned land that separatesthe City of Roslyn's Urban <br />Forest trail system from regional network'sbeing developedon adjacent properties <br />including the Nature Conservancy's Central Cascades Forest and the Teanaway <br />Community Forest as well as other existing regional trail networks. <br />•Urban Forest Connector <br />Develop a trail connector from 15 acres donated by Suncadia for camping,parking, <br />and staging area on Bullfrog Road near Suncadia to 1)Fish Hatchery,South Cle <br />Elum,and the John Wayne Trail,and 2)from the Coal Miners Trail to Cle Elum and <br />Roslyn Ridge trails to the TeanawayCommunity Forest.Easements,rights-of-way, <br />and memorandumsof understanding (MOU)may be required.Bridges will be <br />required for the Yakima River and Crystal Creek. <br />•Upper County Coal Mines Trail Master Plan <br />Develop links and connections,trail and trailhead improvements,wayfinding <br />signage,interpretive exhibits and history,and conservationand restoration practices <br />for the Iron Horse Trail and the Yakima River,Cle Elum River,Roslyn Urban Forest, <br />Suncadia,Sapphire Skies,Hansen Ponds,and the Teanaway Community Forest.
