3. What tools will you use to measure your event's impact on tourism? Please be specific
and provide examples. Include the following information:
I. Is your project/event year-round or is it seasonal or date -specific?
II. What strategies will you employ to assure you are attracting tourists from
at least 50 miles away?
III. What strategies will you use to assist in marketing all of Kittitas County as
a tourist destination with your event/project funding request?
Being set for a specific date; we will make the effort to partner with local businesses and have a way to see the
impact to their individual stores. We have started the process of using coupons, or event just a information sheet
for more information at the cash registers (which hopefully they are spending money). We will track the attendees
through our People's Choice forms, also mention in question #2. Through our advertising we will use a specific
tracking URL to see how many view our page for information about the show. We will use advertising in social
media, print, and radio to draw interest from the surrounding areas such as Kennewick, Pasco, Richland, Seattle,
Tacoma, Wenatchee, Moses Lake, North Bend, Issaquah and Spokane area. We will also use the option of a
give -a -way to create buzz and most importantly received their information for a post -survey. By cross promoting
through the tourism sites and calendars via the internet throughout the county we will assist in marketing Kittitas
County as a whole. We will have a table at the event that will be managed by a person that will provide
information from the visitor center about our county and the things that we offer such as: barn quilt maps, historic
museum brochure, Cle Elum's historic brochure, Central WA Visitor's guide and many others. We will continue
our efforts by working with other festivals and having our information in the antique stores, craft stores, and any
other stores that will allow our posters or information. Additionally, we will place 40% of our online ads on the
CentralWashingtonColor.com facebook page to bring more of a county -wide destination message in our
advertising.
4. Does your organization have, or have you applied for, grant funding from other sources?
If not, why not? If yes, please list the available funding you have for the project,
including any volunteer and in-kind sources, and/or the sources and amounts for which
you have applied. Please note which funding sources are secured and in hand so a true
matching fund determination may be determined. What changes would occur if the
project couldn't be funded?
This is our initial year, we will be mindful of the need to find other sources of funding. We
will be asking for payment from vendors at the show. We will continue working with our
partners for sponsorships or in-kind support. No, we haven't applied for any other funding
as an application but we do have in-kind sources that will be helping the cause of the
event; such as: location of the quilt show $500, volunteer hours estimated based on past
shows 1492 hours at value of 28.99 per hour (source: independentsector.org). We are in
the beginning stages and will continue to work offsetting the cost of the event.
If we are unsuccessful with this grant we will have to rethink the event by seeing if we have
the volunteer power to put it on with private investments, donations, etc. If that is deemed
unavailable we will probably hold off another year and see what we can put together for the
next year.
County -wide Lodging Tax Application Page 111
