APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Please answer each question completely, in the order listed, on a separate sheet attached to
this application. Please include any supporting data within the response narrative.
Please provide a description of your project/event and identify the specific tourism
audience/market that your organization will target with these funds. You must include
an itemized list of exactly how any grant funds awarded will be utilized.
For 2017, we are excited to bring a quilt show to Cle Elum. With the success of the Central WA
Quilt show, the chamber of commerce is partnering with the local quilt shop Ruby's Store to bring a
quilt show in early spring. Quilt shows are a great showcase for the area and the heirlooms of the
county families. In addition, we will have vendors that provide retail options for the attendees.
Target attendees are primarily females in the ages of 25 and older. Creative, environment friendly,
crafty, artistic, and family orientated buyers that are looking for fabric and sewing notions will be the
interest group we will try to attract. We will use advertising in social media, print, and radio to draw
interest from the surrounding areas such as Kennewick, Pasco, Richland, Seattle, Tacoma,
Wenatchee, Moses Lake, North Bend, Issaquah and Spokane area. Central WA Quilt Show had
over 1000 attendees; what an impact this would be for Cle Elum. We will use visual marketing and
continue with online advertising, television and add in radio with some print. Here is a list of areas
the grant funding will be used (but not limited to): Radio (local and out of county), Televisions (out
of county), Online Marketing, Print (local and out of county), Poster design and distribution.
Please provide the following estimates of how any money received will result in
increases in the number of people traveling for business or pleasure on a trip:
I. Away from their place of residence or business and staying overnight in
paid accommodations;
II. To a place fifty miles or more away from their place of residence or
business for the day or staying overnight; or
III. From another country or state outside of their place of residence or
business.
You must provide the evidence utilized in determining your projections.
Our marketing will focus mainly on females with the interest in quilting, crafts, diy, sewing which we
anticipate the ability to view the quilts on display and the vendors that participate we will draw them from
their residences especially those that we target from the puget sound, Central Washington, Eastern
Washington and North Cascades area. We will be timing our event in the late spring to encourage for
overnight stays in the local hotels, campgrounds, or event retreats like vacation rentals or Suncadia. Cle
Elum is an area that many girlfriends get-aways are planned and this will give them another choice to meet
each other and enjoy the event and the surrounding area of Cle Elum and Kittitas County. We will partner
with accommodations to provide special rates and local businesses to promote shopping and dining in the
area including Roslyn, Ellensburg and other communities. We will list the event on calendars via the
internet and make sure we partner with the local newspapers to make newsworthy articles about the
weekend and other things to do. Our advertising if approved will include other opportunities to invite
travelers to make the trip to the city of Cle Elum. Since this will be the first year in Cle Elum we will use the
people's choice forms that will let them choose which quilt they feel is the best and at the same time receive
information from the entrance such as zip code, city of which they came from and if they stayed overnight.
This will help us determine if we were successful in our use of the money awarded.
County -wide Lodging Tax Application P a g e 110
