KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: June 17, 2025 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Chair's <br />Signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project <br />Prospectus for the Huntzinger Road Safety Improvements <br />Phase 1 CRP 318-23. <br />BACKGROUND: The Huntzinger Road Safety Improvements Project Phase 1 <br />was selected to receive Federal Funding through the <br />Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). The grant <br />funding provides the County a cost-effective approach to <br />implement safety improvements such as guardrail, signing <br />and delineation improvements to this corridor. <br />This project is eligible for 100% Federal Funding for all <br />phases authorized prior to April 30, 2026. <br />Public Works is finalizing the design and preparing to <br />solicit for construction in July 2025. This requires the Local <br />Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus to be signed and <br />approved by the Chair of the BOCC prior to sending to <br />WSDOT for formal approval and obligation of the <br />construction phase Federal Funds. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair's signature <br />on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for the <br />Huntzinger Road Safety Improvements Phase 1 CRP 318- <br />23. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus <br />LEAD STAFF: Cameron Curtis, County Engineer <br />
