KITTITAS COUNTY
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: October 1, 2024
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to approve a Resolution authorizing the use of 2024 Public
Facility Award (Distressed County Sales and Use Tax) to support the
Kittitas County CWU Technology Transfer Center Study.
BACKGROUND: The Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board
(CERB) has selected Kittitas County to receive planning grant
funding in the amount of $50,000. This funding is to aid in financing
the cost of the Kittitas County CWU Technology Transfer Center
Study (Project).
This Project will research the architecture and construction costs to
repurpose an existing vacant industrial building to create hospitality,
meeting and office space. As part of the study, the feasibility of a
public/private partnership to share costs of construction and
improvements will be explored. This planning grant will assist in the
groundwork for a technological transfer, training and development
hub to support economic and workforce development in the Central
Washington Region.
The grant has a local match requirement of $12,500. There are
sufficient funds in the Distressed County Sales and Use Tax (Public
Facilities Fund 108) fund to support the match for this project.
Providing match funding will allow for the full available grant
amount to be awarded.
INTERACTION: Public Works
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the use of 2024 Fund 108 (Distressed County Sales and
Use Tax) funding award to support the Kittitas County CWU
Technology Transfer Center Study.
HANDLING: Return One original to Public Works
ATTACHMENTS: Resolution
LEAD STAFF: Josh Fredrickson, Director
