2024-09-10 MINUTES 1 <br /> <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SOLID WASTE AND MAINTENANCE MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />TUESDAY 2:00 PM September 10, 2024 <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Laura Osiadacz Vice- Chairman <br />and Cory Wright Commissioner <br />Others: Patti Stacey, Erica Luce, Amy Cziske Treasurer, Mike Hougardy Assessor and <br />Lisa Murray (Cziske, Hougardy & Murray Out at 2:12 p.m.) <br />Call to Order at 2:00 p.m. <br />Citizen Comments (1 min. time limit) None <br />Treasurer’s Office Update: Patti updated the Board on the repairs to the ceiling tiles in the <br />Treasurer’s office and asbestos concerns. She informed the Board that air samples were taken <br />last Friday and that sampling showed particle levels were below the EPA habitable standard and <br />particles found have been sent for further testing. Patti informed the Board she is meeting with <br />Fulcrum Environmental tomorrow to develop an environmental plan to fix the ceiling that meets <br />L&I environmental requirements. Patti informed the Board the leak that initially caused the <br />damage has been fixed. Discussion was held on possible options to repair both Treasurer’s and <br />Assessor’s ceilings including patching around vents. Further discussion was held on both <br />office’s ability to operate during relocation and length of repair project. The Board suggested <br />Chairman Wachsmith issue a press release and approved setting a not to succeed figure of <br />$50,000.00 for repairs. <br />Solid Waste Updates: Patti notified the Board that Tenelco, Inc began land applying to Ecology <br />approved sites at the Ryegrass facility today and that Ecology is scheduled to observe operations <br />Wednesday at the site. Patti informed the Board she received a significant rate increase from the <br />current household hazardous waste transportation and disposal contractor. Discussion was held <br />on possible disposal alternatives for highly priced items, further discussion was held on <br />alternative disposal options for County septage sludge. Patti informed the Board she is meeting <br />with Brown & Jackson and the County on Friday to discuss costs and the possibilty of a sludge <br />disposal facility at Airport property. <br /> <br />
