KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: March 5, 2024 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Revised Resolution to Formulate <br />the Short -Term Renal Committee and Appoint initial <br />Committee members. <br />BACKGROUND: In 2023 the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) <br />received numerous public comments regarding short <br />term rentals in upper Kittitas County. The BoCC <br />directed staff to formulate a short-term rental committee. <br />The committee would determine the need for legislation <br />related to short-term rentals. Legislation proposed would <br />be considered for the 2024 comprehensive plan <br />amendment process. <br />Public Works solicited County residents for participation <br />in an advisory committee. Sufficient applications have <br />been received. During January 22, 2024, Public Works <br />Study Session applications were selected for the <br />advisory committee. Subsequently, the BoCC remanded <br />the initial appointee list to staff to vet for any code <br />enforcement issues and to ensure applicants listed a <br />home residence in Kittitas County. <br />The attached resolution formulates the Short -Tenn <br />Rental Committee and appoints the initial members to <br />the committee via an amended list of appointees. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works, Community Development Services. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the revised Resolution to Formulate the Short - <br />Term Rental Committee and appoint initial committee <br />members. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution. <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
