KITTITAS COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

AGENDA SESSION STAFF REPORT

AGENDA SESSION DATE: February 1, 2022

ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the
Chair’s signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid
Project Prospectus for the Intersection Corridor Safety
Improvements Project, CRP 313-21.
___________________________________________________________________________
BACKGROUND: Kittitas County has been selected to receive
$416,000.00 through the Federal Highway Safety
Improvement Program (HSIP) to use for the
Intersection Corridor Safety Improvements Project.
This project will install solar powered LED embedded
signs to enhance driver awareness of intersections and
promote safety, and upgrade outdated and obsolete
signs currently in use. Example of signs to be included
are “Stop” and “Stop Ahead” signs. Intersections have
been selected based on criteria including traffic
volume and crash history. HSIP funding is
administered through the Washington State
Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Local
Programs Office and requires approval for each phase
of the project.

This Project Prospectus covers the Federal Funding
for the preliminary engineering phase which is
estimated at $34,000.00.

Public Works is preparing to perform this work with
County Forces in the Spring of 2022. This requires the
Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus to be
signed and approved by the Chair of the BOCC.

INTERACTION: Public Works

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair’s
signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project
Prospectus for the Intersection Corridor Safety
Improvements, CRP 313-21.

HANDLING: Return two (2) originals to Public Works

ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Local Agency Federal Aid Project
Prospectus

LEAD STAFF: Josh Fredrickson, County Engineer
