KITTITAS COUNTY <br />EC STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br />WEDNESDAY 1 10:00 AM June 9, 2021 <br />Board members present: Chair Brett Wachsmith, Commissioner Cory Wright — both via WebEx <br />Others: Kady Porterfield (Event Center Director), Lacie Dawson (Event Center Program <br />Manager) — all via WebEx <br />1. Call to Order 10:00am <br />2. General Event and Rental Updates <br />Vaccine clinic last day will be 6/17, move out to be completed by end of month. <br />Luke Mezich Memorial Roping, Barrel Races, Cattle & Equine shows taking place this month. <br />3. Self Promoted Event Updates <br />Patriot Night: Kady is working on radio and marketing to reach Seattle, Moses Lake, and <br />Yakima areas. The "Party Pods" have been popular and overall ticket sales are going well. Joe <br />Nichols selection as headliner has been well received/very popular. The fireworks show will be <br />taking place immediately following the concert. The liquor licensing has been challenging due <br />to all of the COVID changes. <br />Commissioner Wright asked for a ball -park figure on the concert. Per Kady the cost is <br />approximately $85,000 (includes artist, production and marketing). Receiving funds from new <br />sponsors of the event as well as lodging tax. Commissioner Wright stated he is pleased with the <br />direction the concert is going and it takes a while to build up an event like this. <br />4. Approve Concert Production PSA with Backstage Electric <br />To cover stage, sound, and lights for main event and after party for concert. Commissioner <br />Wright made a motion to approve the PSA with Backstage Electric. Commissioner Wachsmith <br />seconded the motion. No discussion. Motion passes. <br />5. Special Projects <br />• Panting project is starting this month for Teanaway and Umtanum Halls. <br />• Colockum Room is demolished <br />o Working on new water spigots for outside Bloom <br />o Asphalt and ballers to be installed <br />o City did not approve tent structure <br />■ Went out as a public works bid <br />■ Now having supply problems for new tents <br />o Working with livestock directors on plans to rearrange for this year <br />• Posse barn project is 1/3 of the way done, Mike Flory has been a big help on the <br />engineering and check in on the project questions. <br />• Hillside behind big red barns is getting worse. <br />2021-06-09 MINUTES <br />
