KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: March 3, 2020 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Resolution to Authorize the Director of Public <br />Works to seek grant funding from the Washington State <br />Office of Columbia River. <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works is seeking funding assistance from the <br />Washington State Office of Columbia River for Yakima <br />Basin Integrated Plan Habitat Funding to implement initial <br />land stewardship activities and advance project planning <br />for future restoration work. This work will occur on <br />properties owned by Kittitas County that are within the <br />Yakima River Corridor — Jeffries Levee to Yakima Canyon <br />area and will advance flood risk management and habitat <br />enhancement goals. Stewardship activities funded by this <br />grant include building decommissioning, weed treatment, <br />and riparian vegetation establishment. This grant will also <br />advance a technical assessment of potential flood hazard <br />risks and opportunities to concurrently reduce flood <br />hazards and improve instream and riparian habitat <br />conditions in the stream reach below Hanson Pits. <br />There is no match obligation for this funding. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Authorizing the Director of Public <br />Works to sign and execute the aid application. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
