KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: February 4, 2020 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Consider an Event Application request from ABATE of <br />Washington to hold the 2020 Spring Opener. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: On October 30, 2019 the Kittitas County Board of <br />Commissioners received an Event Application & permit fee <br />from ABATE of Washington to hold the 2020 Spring <br />Opener (June 25 - 28, 2020). <br /> <br />INTERACTION: On January 3, 2020 Staff sent the application materials to <br />various County departments for their review and <br />recommendation for the proposed event. <br /> <br />Staff received recommendations of approval or contingent <br />approval from: Solid Waste, Public Works, Sheriff, Public <br />Health; Prosecutor & Fire Marshal noting that the County <br />Auditor had not reported at the time of Staff Report being <br />generated. <br /> <br />The Sheriff’s Office indicated they were made aware that <br />Phoenix Security will not be doing the security for <br />ABATE. They have asked that the event not be approved <br />until they have secured security that is licensed. <br />* note that ABATE has indicated they are working to get a <br />contract with Armored Knights Protective & Investigative <br />Services. <br /> <br />The Kittitas County Public Works Department (Chuck <br />Reed, Road Foreman) submitted a recommendation to <br />approve the Special Event Permit with a recommendation <br />of the following criteria: advance notice be given to the <br />public though adverting in the Daily Record and the <br />Northern Kittitas County Tribune newspapers, two weeks <br />in advance to inform the public. <br /> <br />The Kittitas County Fire Marshal’s Office stated the <br />following: Upon review of the above permit application, I <br />have the following conditions: <br />
