KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE REQUESTED: October 17, 2017 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: To Sign Resolution to Designate Kittitas County Applicant Agent <br />and Assign New Alternate Applicant Agent for Presidential <br />Disaster Declaration FEMA 4249 -DR -WA Severe Storms, <br />Straight-line Winds, Flooding, Landslides, and Mudslides Event <br />November 12 — 21. 2015 <br />Z Routine ❑ Public Hearing <br />BACKGROUND: On January 15, 2016 Kittitas County was included in a Presidential Disaster <br />Declaration 4249 -DR -WA making federal funds available to assist with the cost of <br />emergency response and repairs to facilities damaged by the severe storm <br />event. On March 1, 2016 the Board of County Commissioners signed Resolution <br />No. 2016-039 to designate Mark Cook as the applicant agent and Kathy Jurgens <br />as the alternate applicant agent for FEMA 4249 -DR -WA. These representatives <br />are authorized on behalf of Kittitas County to execute all contracts, certify <br />completion of projects, request payments and prepare all required documentation <br />for funding requirements. <br />Kathy Jurgens has submitted a letter of retirement effective November 30, 2017. <br />A new alternate applicant agent needs to be designated to execute all contracts, <br />certify completion of projects, request payments and prepare all required <br />documentation for funding requirements. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Public Works requests that the Board of County Commissioners sign a <br />Resolution to Designate Kittitas County Applicant Agent and Assign New <br />Alternate Applicant Agent for Presidential Disaster Declaration FEMA 4249 -DR - <br />WA Severe Storms, Straight-line Winds, Flooding, Landslides, and Mudslides <br />Event November 12 — 21, 2015. <br />HANDLING: Return two (2) originals to Public Works. (One copy Public Works, one copy <br />Washington State Military Department) <br />ATTACHMENTS: 2 Copies Resolution to Designate Kittitas County Applicant Agent and Assign <br />New Alternate Applicant Agent for Presidential Disaster Declaration FEMA 4249 - <br />DR -WA Severe Storms, Straight-line Winds, Flooding, Landslides, and Mudslides <br />Event November 12 —21, 2015 <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark Cook, Director <br />
