KITTITAS COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: May 19, 2020
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Accept Funding from
the Federal Aviation Administration Supporting Advanced
Design of Capital Improvements at Bowers Field
BACKGROUND: Public Works has been working to secure funding
supporting advanced design of the parallel taxiway and
reconfiguration of runway 11/29 at Bowers Field for nearly
a year. The advanced design is required to further define
environmental impacts associated with pending capital
improvements. The Federal Aviation Administration is
offering $492,891 in funding support. The County
proposes using recent CARES Act money in meeting its
grant obligation of ten percent match to the grant. Since
beginning this work last year, the Board has now moved
Bowers Field to a department of the Board.
INTERACTION: Public Works.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to accept Federal Aviation
Administration funding for advanced design supporting the
environmental assessment at Bowers Field and authorize
the Bowers Field Director of Operations to accept the
funding on behalf of the Board.
HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works.
ATTACHMENTS: Resolution.
LEAD STAFF: Mark R. Cook, Director.
