JUNE 6, 2017 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura <br />Osiadacz; and Commissioner Obie O’Brien. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Lucas Huck, Engineer; <br />Dan Carlson, CDS Director; Dusty Pilkington, Staff Planner; and 2 <br />members of the public. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING NO. 81 ROAD SPEED PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />At 2:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN JEWELL opened a Public Hearing to consider a <br />Potential Speed Limit Reduction on No. 81 Road and Amending Section <br />10.08.020 of the Kittitas County Code. <br /> <br />LUCAS HUCK, ENGINEER provided a Staff Report relating to reducing <br />the speed limit of 35 MPH to 25 MPH at approximately 1,500 from <br />Palmero Park to the intersection of Alpine Drive (Alpine Estates) <br />and No. 81. The recommendation was based on the potential risk <br />reduction of accidents involving vehicular and non-vehicular traffic <br />and the severity that may occur with higher posted speeds. <br /> <br />THERE BEING NO ONE REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE <br />HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 2017-003 NO. 81 ROAD SPEED PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER OSIADACZ moved to approve Ordinance No. 2017-003, <br />Establishment of a Speed Zone and the Placement of Speed Limit Signs <br />on No. 81 Road and Amending Section 10.08.020 of the Kittitas County <br />Code, effective upon the installation of the appropriate signs. <br />COMMISSIONER O’BRIEN seconded. Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING HIGHWAY 9 PRELIMINARY PLAT CDS <br /> <br />At 2:09 p.m. CHAIRMAN JEWELL opened a Public Hearing to consider the <br />Highway 9 Preliminary Plat (LP-17-00005). <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER OSIADACZ disclosed that she has a past working <br />relationship with Mr. Hansell while working as a Property Manager <br />when she was previously employed by Suncadia. She didn’t feel that <br />past relationship would have any effect in making a decision on the <br />issue. There were no objections. <br /> <br />
