COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 10:00 AM JUNE 25, 2013 <br />Board members present: Obie O’Brien, Gary Berndt <br />Others: Lisa Young, Robin Read, Kirk Holmes, Mandy Weed, Clay <br />Myers <br />REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />1) Call to Order: 10:12 AM <br />2) Personnel Matters <br />1. Wage Increase for Public Health Employee: PH Administrator <br />Read requested a retroactive increase for Dean Tonseth in <br />recognition of his experience. The increase to step 2 <br />would be retroactive to his anniversary date. Commissioner <br />Berndt moved to approve, Chairman O’Brien seconded. The <br />motion carried 2:0. <br />2. Building Inspector Position: Interim Director Holmes and <br />Administrative Assistant Weed reported that the 2014 budget <br />will include a full time Building Inspector. Work has <br />picked up and the cost of two contract inspectors is about <br />the same as hiring a full time inspector. Level of service <br />needs to be maintained and work toward setting rates is <br />underway. They requested to post for a full time inspector <br />now, noting that fluctuating rates will support the hire. <br />Chairman O’Brien stated that the position would be subject <br />to level of work coming in. Commissioner Berndt moved to <br />approve the request to post, Chairman O’Brien seconded. <br />The motion carried 2:0. <br />3. Probation Services – RE: Past Employee Matter: This topic <br />was tabled for a future meeting. <br />3) Executive Session – Performance of a Public Employee <br />RCW 42.30.110 (g) To evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment or to review the <br />performance of a public employee. However, subject to RCW 42.30.140(4), discussion by a governing body of <br />salaries, wages, and other conditions of employment to be generally applied within the agency shall occur in <br />a meeting open to the public, and when a governing body elects to take final action hiring, setting the salary <br />of an individual employee or class of employees, or discharging or disciplining an emplo yee, that action shall <br />be taken in a meeting open to the public <br /> <br />The Board entered Executive Session at 10:30 AM to discuss <br />the performance of a public employee.
