KITTITAS COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: February 7`h, 2017
ACTION REQUESTED: Approve County Road Project for the repair and re-establishment
of Taneum Road from MP 3.80 to MP 3.98
BACKGROUND: Currently Taneum Road from MP 3.80 to MP 3.98 is restricted to
one lane of traffic and under a stop controlled condition. This was
required due to the washout and erosion of the roadway by
Taneum Creek during a high flow event in 2016.
Public Works intends to design the project in house which will
include repair of the roadway, bank and stream stabilization
measures, and possibly some realignment in order to re-establish
two lanes of traffic.
During the budget adoption process the BOCC recommended
including the proposed project and adopted it as part of the 2017
budget. The project is formally included in the annual construction
program for 2017.
Upon CRP approval the project will be designed and constructed
by Public Works staff in 2017. The project will be paid using
county road funds.
INTERACTION: Public Works
RECOMMENDATION: Board of County Commissioners to approve and sign the CRP
form for the Taneum Road Realignment — Slope Stabilization MP
3.80 to MP 3.98 Project.
HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works
ATTACHMENTS: CRP form for Board approval
LEAD STAFF: Lucas Huck
County Engineer
