V
which will allow for hangar space to be developed. The recent completion of a wetland
mitigation site met the requirement for mitigation of wetland impacts of a proposed
project. Future work will include items on the Capital Improvement Plan. The largest
capital project proposed is the parallel taxiway project. This project has an estimated
design and construction cost of $15 million. Funding for capital projects is typically
supported by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through an annual allocation.
This allocation is programmed. For larger projects the FAA may use discretionary
funding. A local match, typically 10%, is required. The parallel taxiway is proposed to be
designed in 2027 and construction beginning in 2029.
In addition to the capital plan, work supporting ongoing maintenance and operations
continues. Efforts to evaluate the current wetland and determine boundaries are
underway. This will help inform permitting and permitted work to help manage habitat.
In addition, the County leases land for hangar development as well as business
development. Agricultural grazing leases have been in place to help support the airport.
The current agricultural grazing leases will expire this year. A call for bids is being
prepared and has been discussed and supported by the AAC.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal action is requested with this update.
ATTACHMENTS:
None
