The systems can also provide Operatlonal Coordinatlon through the <br />notification to key first responclcrs slrch as law onforcemenN fire personnel, mayors, r:nmmissinners, Fmergency dispatch, and <br />utilitles. <br />DESI RED OUTCOMES (INTERMEDI ATE AND LONG.TERM) <br />The Region 7 public Alert and warning project will sustaln the abllity to alert the community of dangers and what to do to remain <br />safe, this system is the conduit to communicate with a vast area of the Region through one rapld mechanism. The system will also <br />help translate emergency messaglng into other languages to assist limit English proficiency populations to remain safe' <br />NEXUS TO TERRORISM <br />This project has the ability to quickly warn or alert the population of any threats or dangers from foreign or domestic acts of <br />terrorism, The Emergency Alert and Warning System wlll enable the messaging to: give out current information, tell people what <br />to do to be safe, where to go to be safe, and/or what dangers to look out for' <br />PROJECT #1 SHSP : N PA ST/CP: Regio nol Tactical Team Eqilipment (lnvestment 2, Proiect 4) <br />BRIEF PROJ ECT EESCR//PTION <br />RegionTconsistsoffivecountlesandthecolvllleconfederatedtribes. Thecountieshavetacticalteamsthatsupportandtrain <br />with each other, chelan/Douglas have the East cascade swAT team, Grant county has the Moses Lake Tactical Response Team <br />(MLTRT), Kittitas County has the Kittltas County Reglonal Tactical Response Team, and Okanogan County has a Speclal Response <br />Team. The Region 7 goal is to standardize our tactical equlpment. Through this process, we will be standardlzing speclallzed <br />equipment to include nallistic shields and nlght vlsion goggi"r. This will allow the tactical teams to be able to traln wlth the same <br />Soft targets and crowded places (ST-CPs) are increasingly appealing to terrorists and other violent extremist actors because of <br />their relative accessibility and the large number of potential targets'Thls challenge is complicated by the prevalent use of simple <br />tactics and less sophisticated attacks. Segments of our society are in herently open to the general public, and by nature oftheir <br />purp ose do not incorporate strict securlty measures. Given the increas ed emphasis by terrorists and other vlolent extremist <br />actors to leverage less sophisticated methods to inflict harm in public a reas, it is vital that the public and private sectors <br />collaborate to enhance security of locations such as transportation centers, parks,restaurants, shopping centers, special event <br />venLres,and slmilar facilities.
