KITTITAS COUNTY <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES <br /> Courthouse RM 201 , ELLENSBURG <br /> Public Meeting <br /> TUESDAY 6: 00 PM July 14 , 2026 <br /> Board members present: Joseph Pearson, Pat Deneen, Warren <br /> Taylor, Tyler Morris, Judith Jackson, and Bill Hinkle . <br /> Absent: Scott Carlson <br /> Others : Chad Bala, CDS Director; Jeremy Johnston, Long Range <br /> Planner; Jamey Ayling, Planning Manager; Gail Weyand, Chief <br /> Administrator; and zero (0) members of the public . <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6: 00 P.M. <br /> CALL TO ORDER - Roll Call <br /> CITIZEN COMMENTS (1 min. time limit) <br /> There were no citizen comments . <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> COMMISSIONER JACKSON moved to approve the minutes from May <br /> 12, 2026 as presented. COMMISSIONER DENEEN seconded. <br /> Discussion - none . Motion passed, 6-0 . <br /> COMMISSIONER HINKLE moved to approve the minutes from June <br /> 9, 2026 as presented. COMMISSIONER JACKSON seconded. <br /> Discussion - none . Motion passed, 6-0 . <br /> Introduction of new Planning Commissioner Tyler Morris occurred. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> INTRODUCTION TO PROPOSED 2026 DEVELOPMENT REGULATION UPDATES : <br /> SHORT TERM RENTALS AND SEPA APPEAL AMENDMENTS (NO ACTION <br /> REQUESTED) <br /> LONG RANGE PLANNER JEREMY JOHNSTON presented this item and <br /> stated that this is an introduction with no action requested. He <br /> stated this may not be the final document as the short term <br /> rental regulations are still under legal review. During the <br /> course of the short term rental committee staff received a lot <br /> of comments, a community survey was completed, this included a <br /> lot of feedback stating that when the police were called <br /> regarding a noise complaint that no one responded.
