LEAD STAFF: Joshua Fredrickson Public Works Director RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to Award the Contract for the Bowers Field Hangar Taxilane Complex Project and Authorize the Public Works Director to execute the same. BACKGROUND: On April 27, 2026, the BOCC approved a Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the construction of the Bowers Field Hangar Taxilane Complex Project. Sealed bids were opened publicly on May 21, 2026, at Kittitas County Public Works. There were six (6) responsive bids received. The lowest responsive bid was from Western Excavating Inc. in the amount of $641,883.27. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reviewed bid documents and responded on June 3, 2026, with concurrence to award. The project involves construction of new taxilanes for future hangar development south of the existing main General Aviation Apron. The project will also include taxilane safety and object free area grading, relocation of airport perimeter fencing, installation of utility sleeves as needed to avoid future pavement cuts in the proposed taxilane, drainage work and installation of pavement markings on the proposed taxiway. Construction duration is anticipated to be three months. The Federal Aviation Administration is providing grant funding for 95 percent of the project through grant number 3-53-0026- 025-2026. A local match of 5 percent is required and budgeted in the airport fund. INTERACTION: Public Works.
