SR906 Corridor,West
of SummitWest
Add a shared use path to the corridor to
provide a non-motorized transportation
connection. This aligns with walkway
and bicycle lane FHWA proven
safety countermeasures and provides
pedestrians and cyclists a dedicated space
that reduces interactions with vehicles.
. Completes the non-motorized
connection between Summit
Central to the Kendall Katwalk/
Pacific Crest Trail trailhead.
. Provides local non-motorized
trail connectivity between
Alpental and Lake Keechelus.
lmplement corridor access management
to improve trafhc flow and clarify the
location of driveway access points to
the right of way. By defining access
points, roadway users are better able to
predict the movements of other vehicles.
Formalizing the location and spacing of
access points results in fewer potential
conflict points.
Reduce the shoulder outside of the
minimum pavement area to discourage
parking and provide additional snow
storage.
Create a formalized buffer between the
shared use path and roadway to provide
snow storage
SR 906 is classified as a County Rural
Arterial per the Kittitas County Code
and should consist of 12-foot minimum
lanes and 4-foot minimum shoulders
per the Kittitas County Standard Plans.
This roadway section can be reduced to
minimum widths per Kittitas County Code
(see Appendix L).
Conidor lmprovement
Intersection of SR 906, NF-0941€/ the
I-90 Exit 52Westbound On-ramp
Construct a roundabout at the l-90 Exit 52 WB
on-ramp intersection. There are currently no active
plans to add an EB l-90 Exit on-ramp at this location.
According to public comment/feedback travelers
not familiar with the area are performing U-turn
maneuvers within the interchange/intersection to
travel east on SR-906. A roundabout provides drivers
a safe place to turn around and be directed toward
the Exit 53 on-ramp to access l-90 eastbound.
lntersection lmprovement
Intersection of SR 906 fi
SummitWest Entrance
Construct a roundabout as a long-term solution to
slow down drivers exiting l-90, provide an entrance to
the Snoqualmie Pass area, and maintain a continuous
flow of traffic to reduce congestion.
lntersection lmprovement
1r9irh*"1;$.\
r\,
\qs'
.o+?
..o_
-c<
,4
%v,
NF_9o41
47 SnoqualririePass Comprehensive Safety Plan I Kittitas County
A 40I
-$**"o*(--
fto.oo"u l"1rvpcTr C+ri*
Trailh^-
-o\
CrossingTreatments
Figure 26.
