April 16, 2026
Jeremy Johnston,
Kittitas County Planner
Over the last couple of days, I reviewed the most recent Easton Sub Area Plan
draft and public comments. Thank you.
My comments:
First, I realize that we are in the eleventh hour of this process, but more
importantly, I am shocked to be made aware of this just a few days ago.
Second, the Easton individuals responsible for carrying this document this far, DO
NOT represent my family or my interests. I am unaware of any attempt by those
individuals to contact me stating their intentions. My understanding, there have
been numerous meetings held over the past year by a small group claiming to
represent Easton residents and landowners, They Do Not!
Third, over the past few days, I have undertaken a cursory informal poll of my
Easton neighbor and friends, I have yet to find anyone that supports their efforts
and action. Further, most friends and neighbors are largely unaware of the Easton
Sub Area Plan proposal. At one point in this process, a questionnaire was
discussed and presented. What was the result of that questionnaire? Were
residents of Easton queried, surveyed or polled?
Fourth, if Easton has formal representation of its residents to Kittitas County, that
is news to me. Who appointed these representatives?
Evidently, there seems to be interest in forming a 501(c)3 Non-Profit? Is the
purpose of forming a 501(c)3 an attempt to solicit funds from federal, state, or
local government entities? Is a revised Easton Sub Area Plan a framework to
solicitate funds based on implementing the goals outlined in a revised Sub Area
Plan? I will oppose the 501 (c) 3 for this purpose.
Restrooms for visitors,
Sidewalks,
