For a <br />popular winter destination, ice on the roadway can limit stopping <br />sight distances and make approaching the intersection dangerous. <br />Lighting provides advanced warning of a congested area. <br />Reconfigure the roadway to reduce the intersection width and <br />decrease sign distance from the roadway. <br />Systematically apply multiple low-cost countermeasures at stop- <br />controlled intersections.
