Washington State Truck Parking
Implementation Plan (2024)**
The Washington State Truck Parking Implementation Plan, developed by
the Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board (FMSIB) in consultation
with WSDOT, outlines specific and actionable recommendations, including
an implementation timeline and grant opportunities, to expand both
public and private truck parking supply across the state. I-90 is identified
as one of the state’s major freight corridors with truck parking facilities
that are at or over capacity during overnight hours. The plan identified and
assessed development opportunities along I-90, particularly near North
Bend and within the surrounding 30-mile corridor segment. A key finding
of the plan is that this section of I-90 lies outside the urban growth area
boundary, meaning new parking solutions will require collaboration and
coordination among state, regional, and local partners. Addressing this gap
is especially important for Snoqualmie Pass, where limited truck parking
often results in drivers staging on shoulders, ramps, and local roads.
Snoqualmie Valley/Northeast King
County Subarea Plan (2024)††
The Snoqualmie Valley/Northeast King County Subarea Plan (2024) is a
component of the King County Comprehensive Plan that establishes a
20-year vision for land use, transportation, and community development
within the subarea. The plan includes policies that support transportation
safety, access, and mobility improvements relevant to this CSAP effort.
Key supportive policies include:
ƒSVNE-26: Support safety improvements to the State Route
906 corridor for Snoqualmie Pass residents and visitors through
working with the Washington State Department of Transportation,
Kittitas County, local businesses, and the community.
ƒSVNE-31: Explore alternatives to driving alone to Snoqualmie
Pass, particularly in the winter, to reduce congestion, reduce safety
hazards, and expand access to the Pass, by working with Washington
State, Kittitas County, local businesses, and the community.
†† https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/local-services/buildings-property/development-
planning-regulations/subarea-plans/snoqualmie-valley-ne-king-county
20Kittitas County | Snoqualmie Pass Comprehensive Safety Plan
