We ask that you lead with integrity. We ask that you apply the same standards to yourself and
Hunter that you apply to us. We ask that you be transparent. We ask that you build trust through
consistency, not fear.
We are not writing this letter to create conflict. We are writing it because we care about this
office, this community, and this profession. We want to work collaboratively to build something
we can all be proud of.
We propose that policy enforcement be paused until formal, training is complete and policies are
properly adopted with staff input. We propose establishing a collaborative policy review process
in which deputy coroners provide input before policies are drafted, not after. We propose
replacing punitive language with progressive discipline across all policies. We propose that
formal training be conducted on fingerprinting, blood draws, and X-rays with competency
verification and L&I compliance confirmation before requiring these duties. We propose that
compensation be reviewed and adjusted to reflect added duties, and that equal pay for equal work
be ensured. We propose improving communication through regular team meetings or check-ins,
consistent messaging, and the immediate sharing of safety-relevant information. We propose
rebuilding trust through transparency, accountability, and leading by example.
We remain committed to this office and professional excellence. We would like to come together
through well-developed, fairly enforced policies, not through threats and fear.
We hope you will receive this letter in the spirit in which it is intended, as an invitation to work
together to make the Kittitas County Coroner's Office the best it can be.
Respectfully,
a
acob Schroeder
De/ieDivine
C. ro Kittitas County
Deputy Coroner, Kittitas County
f3c1y Se Aje,
Bob Seeyle
Deputy Coroner, Kittitas County
Dave Elpersoi; -
Deputy Coroner,Kittitas County
Page 4
