Response 6.1: Provide any additional information which will assist the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee in evaluating your
project and its benefit to tourism.
Junk-tiquen in the Burg has grown into a signature event that continues to draw both shoppers and vendors from across the
region. Our vendor spaces consistently sell out, and we maintain a waiting list—evidence of strong demand and the event’s
reputation as a must-attend vintage market. While the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily slowed our momentum, we are
committed to building back stronger and continuing a steady growth trajectory.
Recognition & Awards:
• 2018: Named one of the “Top Vintage Shows to Attend” by Flea Market Gardens, as voted by readers.
• 2017: Recognized as one of the “Top 12 Vintage Markets in the United States” by Flea Market Décor.
Application Clarification:
This application represents one program, Junk-tiquen in the Burg, but covers two events held annually. While vendor lineups
differ, both events operate under the same brand and mission. Initially, we were encouraged to submit two applications but were
later advised to combine them into one.
Actual numbers and Budget Note:
As of the application deadline, our fall show has not yet taken place, so current attendance figures reflect data from 2024.
Consequently, the 2025 budget remains incomplete. While preliminary numbers indicate a temporary shortfall, we expect the
year to balance out once revenue from the fall show is in.
Importance of the Grant:
The Lodging Tax grant has been instrumental in helping Junk-tiquen grow. It has allowed us to expand advertising reach, attract
a broader audience, and enhance the overall visitor experience. Continued support will allow us to build on this momentum,
drawing even more visitors to Kittitas County.
Benefits of Continued Support:
• Increased Visitor Attendance: Expanded marketing will attract more out-of-area shoppers, boosting attendance and visibility.
• Encouraging Overnight Stays: Visitors traveling from outside the region are likely to book accommodations, benefiting local
lodging providers.
• Boosting Ancillary Spending: Increased attendance generates more spending in restaurants, shops, and service businesses
throughout the county.
• Enhancing Community Experience: A growing, diverse audience enriches the event atmosphere and strengthens community
pride.
We are deeply grateful for the opportunities this grant program provides. With continued support, Junk-tiquen in the Burg will not
only remain a premier vintage market but also continue contributing to the economic vitality, cultural richness, and tourism
growth of Kittitas County.
2500 character limit
Response 6.2: You may upload any supporting documents such as graphs, images, diagrams, marketing materials, etc.
You are allowed to submit up to 3 single page (US Letter) documents in JPG, PDF or TIFF format
Show comments.pdf 1.67MB
Flea Market Decor award.pdf 738.88KB
7| Previous Lodging Tax Grant Information
Response 7.1: Has your event received Lodging Tax funds in previous years?*
No, this event/project has not previously received Lodging Tax Funding
Yes, 1 year previous
Yes, 2 years previous
Yes, 3 years previous
Yes, 4 or more years previous
Response 7.2: Overall Attendance *
Past Actual *Projected *
