Response 2.1: Why would tourists travel to Kittitas County to attend your event/activity/facility?*
Tourists are drawn to Junk-tiquen not just for its exceptional shopping, but for the one-of-a-kind experience it creates. More than
a market, it’s a destination weekend that blends vintage treasures, creativity, and community charm into a destination event.
Vintage and artisan markets have timeless appeal, offering an alternative to mass-produced retail. Junk-tiquen elevates this by
curating 65+ vendors from across the Pacific Northwest who specialize in antiques, repurposed décor, handmade goods, and
rare collectibles. Booths are often elaborately staged with vintage trailers, themed displays, and Instagram-worthy backdrops
that make the event both visually stunning and highly shareable.
Attendees don’t just shop, they wander through curated spaces, connect with makers, sip coffee, and enjoy the festive
atmosphere. For many, it’s about the experience as much as the purchase: who they meet, what they discover, and the
memories they create.
Ellensburg’s central location makes it an ideal meeting point for friends and families traveling from Seattle, Spokane, the Tri-
Cities, Yakima, and beyond, including Oregon and Idaho. The timing of our shows adds seasonal appeal: spring blossoms in
April and vibrant autumn colors in October. Visitors often extend their stay to enjoy local dining, downtown shops, and nearby
attractions, turning Junk-tiquen into the anchor of a weekend getaway.
Tourism Impact
• Over 50% of attendees travel more than 50 miles
• At least 2% arrive from out of state
• Approximately 15% stay in paid overnight accommodations.
Vendors also contribute significantly by booking lodging, dining locally, and bringing their own customer bases, amplifying the
event’s reach and economic impact.
For many, Junk-tiquen has become a seasonal tradition, groups of friends, families, and loyal visitors return year after year. The
welcoming atmosphere fosters connection, inspiration, and discovery, the very experiences today’s travelers seek.
Junk-tiquen is a compelling reason for tourists to visit Kittitas County. It combines a vibrant marketplace, a scenic destination,
and a sense of community into one authentic, memorable experience. By drawing visitors from across the region and beyond,
the event drives overnight stay, local spending, and lasting connections that benefit the county long after the market ends.
2500 character limit
