Response 6.1: Provide any additional information which will assist the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee in evaluating your
project and its benefit to tourism.
1. Off-Season is Our On-Season – While ski resorts measure success by winter activity, WSSSM thrives year-round. We
welcome thousands of visitors in summer as well as winter, especially hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail and travelers crossing I-
90. This makes us a steady tourism driver in both peak and shoulder seasons.
2. Uniqueness – WSSSM is the only museum, art, or cultural activity on Snoqualmie Pass. With eleven permanent exhibits,
scavenger hunts, and an updated Olympic gallery, we offer a destination distinct from restaurants or recreation alone—providing
cultural and historical context that enhances the visitor experience.
3. Community Support & Alignment – Snoqualmie Pass is a small, growing community seeking autonomy and identity. WSSSM
serves as a gathering place for meetings, classes, D&D groups, and social events, and has even hosted political gatherings and
Girl Scout cookie pickups. We collaborate with local businesses such as Dru Bru, Commonwealth, and The Pass Life, and with
nonprofits like Outdoors for All, aligning our programming with community priorities.
4. Tourism Beyond 50 Miles – WSSSM’s tourism impact is clear: 97% of visitors travel from more than 50 miles away, 13% come
from out of state, and 12% stay overnight. These metrics directly match lodging tax goals by demonstrating our ability to drive
visitation and overnight stays in Kittitas County.
the vision, credibility, and expertise to advance lodging tax goals. Together, they guide the museum in expanding tourism,
supporting local businesses, and strengthening Kittitas County’s position as a premier year-round destination.
