The Downtown Cle Elum Association (CEDA) is a non-profit whose mission is to Preserve, Protect, and Enhance Cle Elum’s
Historic Downtown. We achieve this through partnerships, year-round marketing, and community engagement, with an
emphasis on a family-friendly downtown core. In 2025, we also manage the Cle Elum Visitor Center, enhancing visitor services,
promoting downtown businesses, and connecting locals and tourists to events and recreation.
CEDA produces three signature events: Pioneer Days, Boo-Elum, and Christmas in Cle Elum. Pioneer Days, a 50+ year
heritage celebration, drew 4,535 attendees in 2024, with 1.9K new website users and 81% mobile access, reflecting increased
digital engagement. Event engagement from July 1–8, 2024 reached 11.8K, up significantly from previous years, while website
traffic grew 40% year-over-year. Branded Pioneer Days water cans, in partnership with Dru Bru, were distributed statewide to
expand tourism reach.
In 2025, Placer Labs geofencing data allows more precise tracking, filtering only visitors present for 10+ minutes. Data show a
100-person increase in downtown activity during the Pioneer Days parade (10 AM–12 PM) over 2024. CEDA also assumed
responsibility for fireworks at Pioneer Days and Christmas in Cle Elum, increasing costs but demonstrating strong tourism: over
35% of participants travel 50+ miles, and visitors come from all 50 states, with peaks during signature events.
We attribute growth to strategic partnerships, enhanced marketing, data-driven insights, and the Visitor Center, along with
collaborations with UKC Medic One, Cle Elum-Roslyn Schools, Dru Bru, Scouts, Fire Dept, City of Cle Elum, Chamber of Wolf
Point (MT), WSDOT, and 38 Main Street communities statewide. These efforts position Cle Elum as a year-round destination for
all ages, strengthening both economic and cultural vitality.
