Prevention of erosion due to construction activities. <br />B. Prevention of sedimentation of waterways, open drainage ways, and storm and sanitary sewers <br />due to construction activities. <br />C. Restoration of areas eroded due to insufficient preventive measures. <br />D. Performance bond. <br />E. Compensation of Owner for fines levied by authorities having jurisdiction due to non- <br />compliance by Contractor. <br />1.02 RELATED REQUIREMENTS <br />1.03 REFERENCE STANDARDS <br />A. Washington State Department of Ecology (WSDOE) <br />B. ASTM D4355/D4355M - Standard Test Method for Deterioration of Geotextiles by Exposure to <br />Light, Moisture, and Heat in a Xenon Arc-Type Apparatus; 2021. <br />C. ASTM D4491/D4491M - Standard Test Methods for Water Permeability of Geotextiles by <br />Permittivity; 2022. <br />D. ASTM D4533/D4533M - Standard Test Method for Trapezoid Tearing Strength of Geotextiles; <br />2015 (Reapproved 2023). <br />E. ASTM D4632/D4632M - Standard Test Method for Grab Breaking Load and Elongation of <br />Geotextiles; 2015a (Reapproved 2023). <br />F. ASTM D4751 - Standard Test Methods for Determining Apparent Opening Size of a Geotextile; <br />2021a. <br />G. ASTM D4873/D4873M - Standard Guide for Identification, Storage, and Handling of <br />Geosynthetic Rolls and Samples; 2017 (Reapproved 2021). <br />H. EPA (NPDES) - National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Construction <br />General Permit; Current Edition. <br />1.04 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Comply with requirements of EPA (NPDES) for erosion and sedimentation control, as specified <br />by the NPDES, for Phases I and II, and in compliance with requirements of Construction <br />General Permit (CGP), whether the project is required by law to comply or not . <br />B. Also comply with all more stringent requirements of State of Washington Erosion and <br />Sedimentation Control Manual. <br />C. Develop and follow an Erosion and Sedimentation Prevention Plan and submit periodic <br />inspection reports. <br />D. Do not begin clearing, grading, or other work involving disturbance of ground surface cover until <br />applicable permits have been obtained; furnish all documentation required to obtain applicable <br />permits. <br />E. Provide to Owner a Performance Bond covering erosion and sedimentation preventive <br />measures only, in an amount equal to 100 percent of the cost of erosion and sedimentation <br />control work. <br />F. Timing: Put preventive measures in place as soon as possible after disturbance of surface <br />cover and before precipitation occurs. <br />G. Storm Water Runoff: Control increased storm water runoff due to disturbance of surface cover <br />due to construction activities for this project.
