Coordinate with <br />Engineer in these zones. <br />3.05 PREPARED NATIVE SUBGRADE <br />A. Conform to requirements of Section 31 23 13, Subgrade Preparation. <br />3.06 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL TESTING <br />A. During fill and backfill activities, soil materials shall be verified for gradation <br />and placement thicknesses in conformance with these Specifications. <br />B. Testing requirements and locations shall be coordinated with (and approved <br />by) the Engineer. <br />C. For tests conducted in the field, Contractor shall make available test results to <br />the Engineer within 24 hours. If a sample is taken from the field and sent to a <br />laboratory for testing, Contractor shall make available test results to the <br />Engineer within 48 hours after the sample is taken in the field. <br />D. For Bidding purposes, the following minimum test schedule shall be assumed: <br />1. In-place density tests shall be made on the following minimum <br />schedule: <br />a. Subgrade Preparation: Ten per acre. <br />b. Trench Backfill: One per 250 linear feet per lift. <br />c. Gravel Bases for Slabs/Footing: Two per slab and one per footing <br />d. Roadways and Embankment Fill Areas: One per 250 linear feet <br />per lift. <br />2. Standard Proctor laboratory density curves (five-point minimum) shall <br />be submitted by Contractor for each imported material in accordance <br />with ASTM D698. Samples of native materials used for embankment <br />and backfill and additional samples of imported materials shall be taken <br />at locations requested by Engineer. <br />3.07 ROAD SURFACING AND BALLAST <br />A. Place and compact as specified in Section 32 11 23, Aggregate Base Courses. <br />END OF SECTION
