Dewatering: Conform to applicable requirements of this section. <br />D. Excavation Support: Install and maintain, as necessary to support sides of <br />excavations (and trenches) and prevent detrimental settlement and lateral <br />movement of existing facilities, adjacent property, and completed Work, as <br />well as to protect worker safety. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS (NOT USED) <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 GENERAL <br />A. Excavate to lines, grades, and dimensions shown and as necessary to <br />accomplish Work. Excavate to within tolerance of plus or minus 0.1 foot, <br />except where dimensions or grades are shown or specified as maximum or <br />minimum. Allow for forms, working space, granular base, topsoil, and similar <br />items, wherever applicable. Trim to neat lines where concrete is to be <br />deposited against earth. <br />B. Do not over excavate without written authorization of Engineer. <br />C. Review Excavation Plan with Engineer prior to beginning excavating <br />activities. Obtain Engineer’s approval of deviations from Excavation Plan <br />prior to their implementation. <br />D. Work excavation in a systematic manner. Continuously keep excavation <br />graded to drain, and take necessary precautions to control erosion and prevent <br />sediment releases, in conformance with Contractor’s Construction Period <br />Sedimentation and Erosion Control Plan. <br />E. Excavate to the lines and grades shown on Drawings, leaving room for <br />prepared subgrade as shown or required. Protect subgrade in accordance with <br />Section 31 23 13, Subgrade Preparation. <br />3.02 GENERAL (UNCLASSIFIED) EXCAVATION <br />A. Excavation is unclassified. Complete all excavation regardless of the type, <br />nature, or condition of the materials encountered. <br />3.03 GENERAL TRENCHES <br />A. Minimum Width of Trenches: <br />1. Single Pipes, Conduits, Direct-Buried Cables, and Duct Banks: <br />a. Less than 4-inch Outside Diameter or Width: 18 inches.
