See Section 31 32 00, Soil Stabilization <br />2.05 SILT (SEDIMENT) FENCE <br />A. Geotextile: As specified in Article Geotextile. <br />B. Reinforcing: Welded wire fabric, 14-gauge minimum with 2-inch by 4-inch <br />mesh. Support Posts: As recommended by manufacturer of geotextile. <br />C. Fasteners: Heavy-duty wire staples at least 1-inch long, tie wires, or hog rings, <br />as recommended by manufacturer of geotextile. <br />2.06 WATTLES <br />A. Cylinders of biodegradable plant material such as weed-free straw, coir, <br />compost, wood chips, excelsior, or wood fiber or shavings encased within <br />biodegradable netting. <br />B. Diameter: 5 inches minimum. <br />C. Netting Material: Clean, evenly woven, and free of encrusted concrete or <br />other contaminating materials such as preservatives. Also free from cuts, <br />tears, or weak places with a minimum lifespan of 6 months. <br />D. Compost Filler: Coarse compost, wood chips, or wood shavings. <br />E. Wood Stakes: Untreated softwood species, 2-inch by 2-inch nominal <br />dimension and 36 inches in length. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 PREPARATION <br />A. Engineer’s acceptance of the SWPPP Plan is required prior to starting earth <br />disturbing activities. <br />B. Include proposed stockpile areas and installation of temporary erosion control <br />devices, ditches, or other facilities in Work phasing plans. <br />C. Areas designated for Contractor’s use during Project may be temporarily <br />developed as specified to provide working, staging, and administrative areas. <br />Include control of sediment from these areas in the SWPPP Plan.
