Monitoring equipment action levels and recommended responses. <br />e. Confined space entry procedures. <br />4. The Contractor should provide equipment necessary to protect others at <br />the landfill site from hazards, including, but not limited to, surface <br />irregularities, trenches or excavations. Barricades, lanterns, and proper <br />signs shall be furnished in sufficient amount to safeguard the public and <br />the Work. <br />B. Safety and Monitoring Equipment: As part of the safety program, maintain at <br />a well-known place at the Job Site, safety equipment applicable to the Work <br />as prescribed by the governing safety authorities and all articles necessary for <br />giving first aid to the injured. Personnel should be adequately trained in the <br />use of safety and monitoring equipment used at the Job Site. <br />1. Accident Reports: <br />a. If death or serious injuries or serious damages are caused, the <br />accident shall be reported immediately by telephone or messenger <br />to both the Engineer and the Owner. In addition, the Contractor <br />shall promptly report in writing to the Engineer and the Owner all <br />accidents whatsoever arising out of, or in connection with, the <br />performance of the work whether on, or adjacent to, the Site, <br />giving full details and statements of witnesses. <br />b. If a claim is made by anyone against the Contractor or any <br />subcontractor on account of any accident, the Contractor shall <br />promptly report the facts in writing to the Owner, giving full <br />details of the claim. <br />c. Safety Monitor: Contractor shall provide a person who will be <br />designated as the Safety Monitor. Safety Monitor shall be <br />thoroughly trained with respect to safety related regulations and in <br />rescue procedures and the use of safety equipment and gas <br />detectors. This person should be present at all times during <br />construction. <br />d. Safety Program: Supplemental to the Contractor’s regular safety <br />program, the Contractor should develop and institute procedures <br />to inform all workers at the site of the potential for the presence of <br />methane and other landfill gases emanating from the natural <br />decomposition of refuse buried at or near the Job Site, and the <br />importance of safety precautions to ensure the safety of workers <br />and the public. <br />e. No smoking onsite.
