With this foundational meeting complete, we are prepared to schedule our first official case review. Rebekah and I
are sincerely grateful for the commitment and expertise each member brings to this team. While this work is
challenging and meaningful, our shared goal remains clear: prevention and the protection of children in our
community.
Health Literacy
Nea and Cambron have continued to work on health literacy best practices and howthat impacts the workthat we
do. We want to make sure that all information we put out in our community can be understood and used to the best
of our community's ability. They are working on more mini sessions for our staff to attend and learning how they
can incorporate more health literacy best practices into their work. They are also working on individualized training
for divisions within our department.
Youth Substance Use Prevention (Tobacco grant)
Rebekah and Nea are gearing up to implement the Standardized Tobacco Assessment for Retain Settings (STARS).
This will be in partnership with both lower and upper county prevention high school clubs. This will allow us to have
local data on how price, product and promotions affect the youth in our community. Data gathered can help us
with future prevention strategies at a state and local level.
Access to Baby and Child Dentistry (ABCD) Program
Nea has been busy gathering information on current ABCD Certified Dental providers and offices. This is to ensure
that there is information up update and that they are accepting new pediatric patients on apple health. This will
help with outreach to families.
Internal Translation Process Project
Cambron has been working on an internal translation process. With input from Dora, Lucy, and Audi. And
collaboration from MacKenzie and Erin. The goal of this project is to streamline the processes to make things
easier for Dora, Lucy and I to translate, as well as keep us updated on who is doing the first translation and then the
review. This project has been a collaborative effort with much input coming from those of us that do translations.
We are excited to get this new process going to make things easier, and more efficient for us.
Administration and Veterans Services Program
Admin
■ Colleen is working with Candi and Katie to do public records requests- the more people trained the more
back up we have.
■ New Public Health Technician, Ruben Mackenzie started on March 9th.
Veterans Services
The first Kittitas County Resource Fair event is moving forward. Ed and Candi continue to meet with the
group to make sure the event is successful. The event is scheduled for April 18th from 9-2 at Central
Washington University. Candi will bring some flyers if anyone would like to spread the word!
■ Our new Veteran Services Officer, Denise Payton, starts March 30th!
13
