From:
Jill Merwin
To:
Jeremy Johnston
Subject:
Easton Subarea Plan Edits and Comments V3.0
Date:
Friday, February 27, 2026 2:21:31 PM
CAUTION: This email originated from outside the Kittitas County network. Do not click
links, open attachments, fulfill requests, or follow guidance unless you recognize the sender
and have verified the content is safe.
Hi Jeremy,
Below are my edits/comments for the Easton Subarea Plan. Please feel free to reach out if you
have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for taking the time to read these, and for all the assistance you have provided to the
Easton community. Your attention and knowledge are greatly appreciated!
Subarea Plan V3.0 Edits and Comments
Note: The footnotes indicate that Engagement was collected between March 2025 to June 2026. Is the 2026 date
correct, or should it be 2025?
Page 4; 1.2 Last paragraph; description of the area. "—forested hills and steep slopes to the south and west as the
train rises into the Cascade foothills." Should this description include the rises to the north and east? (Easton Ridge)
Page 8. Easton Figure 8 description. Keechelus dam is misspelled as Keechlus.
Page 11; 1.4. Second line. Board of county commissioners is misspelled as BOAD.
Page 11; 1.5. First paragraph regarding the Easton community collaboration on revisions to the plan between March
2025 to June 2026. Is the June 2026 date valid?
Page 18; 2.3. Community landmarks. Should Silver Ridge Ranch be included? It's been in existence for I believe
over 50 years and has been a prominent feature of the community. It sits right behind the LAMIRD 3 property off of
Sparks Rd.
Page 18; 2.3.1. Community Design and Aesthetic. Should "Aesthetic" in the 2.3.1 title be plural, as in "Aesthetics"?
Page 19; 2.4. EP 1-1 "...reduce barriers to permitting, such as requiring conditional use permits." Remove "...such
as requiring conditional use permits." This does not serve the community in a positive way.
Page 30; 5.2. Existing Conditions. Second paragraph states those not served by the Easton Water District are served
by private wells and septic tanks for their water and waste water. This is true, however, properties that are served by
the Easton Water District also utilize septic tanks for wastewater. There is no municipal sewer in Easton.
Page 30; 5.3. Summary of Community Input - "Feedback from the community" lacks a footnote like the other
summaries include on previous pages.
Page 32; 6.2. Existing Conditions, second paragraph, first sentence describes forested slopes, particularly to the
south and west. But there are also slopes to the north and east. Should those also be included?
