Kittitas County Courthouse Energy Audit AKANA <br />Cx Commissioning —a quality -focused process for enhancing the delivery of a <br />project. The process focuses on verifying and documenting that the facility and all <br />its systems and assemblies are planned, designated, installed, tested, operated, <br />and maintained to meet the Owner's Project Requirements (OPR). <br />DCW Domestic (Cold) Water —Water primarily intended for direct human use, such as <br />that supplied to plumbing fixtures. <br />DDC Direct Digital Controls —a type of control by which controlled and monitored <br />analog or binary data (e.g., temperature, contact closures) are converted to digital <br />format for manipulation and calculations by a digital computer or <br />microprocessor, then converted back to analog or binary form to control physical <br />devices. <br />Dx Direct expansion —(1) system in which the cooling effect is obtained directly from <br />the expansion of the liquid refrigerant into a vapor. (2) common term applied to <br />an air-conditioning or refrigeration system that uses the vapor -compression <br />refrigeration cycle. In a vapor -compression refrigeration cycle, the refrigerant <br />removes heat in the evaporator by directly expanding the entering liquid <br />refrigerant into vapor as it leaves the evaporator. The vapor is then compressed <br />and piped to a condenser, where the heat removed by the evaporator and the heat <br />of compression are rejected to another medium so that the gaseous refrigerant is <br />condensed to a liquid. The liquid is then piped to a pressure -reducing <br />device/metering device to be supplied to the evaporator. <br />ECI Energy Cost Index —metric used to measure how much money is spent on <br />building utilities relative to size. <br />ECM Energy Conservation Measure —installation of equipment, subsystems, or systems <br />or modification of equipment, subsystems, systems, or operations for the purpose <br />of reducing energy use and/or demand (and, hence, energy and/or demand costs). <br />EMS Energy Management System —a system of computer applications used by <br />building engineering staff to monitor, control, and optimize the building's <br />operating performance (e.g., energy consumption, occupant comfort levels). EMS <br />optimizes building operating performance via supervisory control programs that <br />use core BMS functionality. <br />EUI Energy Use Intensity —metric used to measure the amount of energy consumed <br />by a building relative to its size. <br />Project Number 22-084 <br />October 28, 2025 <br />
