most attractive, the economic advantages, tax advantages,
housing, and transportation networks . Medium priority also
included Lane Use, Housing Affordability and Transportation,
especially in the Upper County. CLAY WHITE stated that regarding
the Land Use - Major Industrial Developments, since we already
have that in the Comprehensive Plan it was placed in the low
priority section because the development regulations will
already be written in code with the upcoming update . There are a
lot of items that may be considered high priorities, but there
is only so much energy and resources available in order to
accomplish those things per year.
Discussion occurred regarding some redundancy among the cards
which could be grouped together.
CDS DIRECTOR CHAD BALA presented the priorities from the second
group. The high priority items included Affordable Housing,
Housing - Permit Ready Accessory Dwelling Units, Utilities -
Alternative Energy (or Green Energy) , Impacts of State and
Federal Land Purchases, and Economic Development - Central
Washington University. The group did not think Land Use -
Agricultural Diversity was a high priority as they felt the
county was already established with growing hay. The group felt
that Resiliency - Wildfire Resistant Development shouldn' t be a
Comp Plan priority because this is already covered in our WUI
Code . The Land Use - Urban Growth Areas topic fell into the low
priority group. He stated it was a great exercise to accomplish
as a group.
ERIN O' KELLY presented the priorities from the third group.
Utilities - Alternative Energy, Housing - Permit Ready Accessory
Dwelling Unit, and Land Use - Impacts of State and Federal Land
Purchases, Resiliency - Wildfire Resistant Development,
Resiliency - Wildfire Education and Programs, Transportation -
in regard to Upper County Growth, and making sure we can
continue development in Upper County were placed in the high
priority group. The lower or non-priority category included the
Land Use - Agricultural Diversity, Land Use - Fully Contained
Communities, and Housing - Affordable Housing in Upper County.
The Economic Development items were put into the low priority
category; they felt the county will be coordinating and working
on it with groups for allocating the resources and annual yearly
implementation. The medium priority category included the
Transportation related ones .
CLAY WHITE stated that Comprehensive Plans have goals and
policies .
