Community gatherings/meetings, Focus on preventing hometessness by preventing social stigma Question 5: Previous priorities have inctuded increasing affordabte housing, increasing shetter and other support services, preventing homelessness, improving the hometess response system, and expanding community engagement, awareness, and education. People with Lived Experience: Generalty, participants didn't disagree that these are priorities, but they woutd tike to see more progress in them. lt was mentioned that there's been limited increase in affordabte housing (Spurting Court) and there are sti[[ wait lists everywhere. They atso expressed that addressing barriers, especially stigma, needs to be a priority. There was atso some discussion about price gouging teading to high rents and there being more housing out there than what peopte are aware of. . "There are a lot of things missing from the priorities. I do think it reatty heavily needs to be worked on. I do see some improvement, but betieve there needs to be more action put in. t' . "My personal opinion is that the onty increase in affordable housing (which is a reatty big one) in the last five years has been Spurting Court." . "l think there's a tot more housing avaitabte here than anyone is leading to betieve....a lot of it is being price gouged to keep people in poverty out of it." Service Providers: Participants discussed trespassing peopte being a concern and that maybe community fatigue with the issue has something to do with it. Peopte who are trespassed from the cotd weather shetter often end up getting into jait. Participants suggested coming up with an alternative to jait. Atso discussed was having more information about services avaitabte and addressing peopte who have pets. . "several peopte who have crossed my path have been trespassed here, there, and everywhere. I futty understand why that may have happened, but something has made this person react or act the way they do. There stitt has to be a place for someone." 13
