Kittitas County Public Health 00 De partmeni ental Health September 2025 Department Updates The Environmental Health Division would like to share highlights from what has been a busy and highly productive summer quarter. Our team continues to demonstrate excellence, adaptability, and a commitment to protecting public health through a wide range of programs, inspections, and interagency collaborations. As we head into fall, our focus remains on continuous learning, growth, and service. Staff are preparing for credentialing exams and continuing their participation in interagency trainings to deepen technical expertise and expand program knowledge. The work is challenging, but the impact is clear and we're proud to serve our community with integrity and commitment. Air Quality Partnership with DOE One of the more exciting projects underway is our continued involvement in a community -led air quality improvement project in Ellensburg. Our EH Coordinator has been actively leading this effort in partnership with the Department of Ecology and local community members. We're also fortunate to now have additional staff support from the Public Health Infrastructure team on the project, which is helping to strengthen its overall impact. The project aims to address localized air quality concerns through community -driven strategies and strong interagency coordination. Pollution Prevention Assistant Program Training is underway with Spokane Regional Health District and the Department of Ecology to build internal capacity for conducting Pollution Prevention Assistance (PPA) inspections. The goal is to support small quantity generators of hazardous waste by improving understanding of proper disposal practices and ensuring safe on -site storage across the county. National Information Officers Association Training This quarter also provided valuable professional development opportunities. One of our team members attended the National Information Officers Association (NIOA) conference for the first time, gaining insight into how other agencies manage disaster response and strengthen communication with their communities. The lessons learned will help us enhance our own public outreach and preparedness strategies. Technical Assistance for Clallam County We continue to support partner jurisdictions across the region. Staff recently provided technical assistance to Clallam County's On -Site Sewage System (OSS) program as they work toward meeting licensing requirements. Locally, our team offered on -site education to a school district operating a large OSS system, helping clarify system maintenance responsibilities and regulatory expectations.
