Hazus Earthquake Building Related Economic Loss Estimates
(Millions of Dollars)
Hazus estimates the number of households that are expected to be displaced from their homes due to
the earthquake incident. Hazus also estimates the number of displaced individuals that will require
accommodations in temporary public shelters. The model estimates eight (8) households will be
displaced due to the earthquake. Of these, four (4) people (out of a total population of 44,337) will seek
temporary shelter in public shelters.
For the transportation systems, Hazus computes the direct repair cost for each component only. Table
4-58 provides damage estimate for the transportation systems.
1100Hospitals
222200Schools
0 2Emergency Operations Center 2 0
0 660Police Stations
202000Fire Stations
At Least
Moderate
(Greater than
Complete
(Greater than
50% damage)
with
Functionality
(Greater thanFacilityTotal
50% on da 150%
1.67 4.74Wage0.00 0.15 2.85 0.07
3.330.06 3.00 0.04 0.22Capital-
Related 0.00
0.40 1.16 0.06 0.98 2.75Rental0.16
0.20 3.89 6.61Relocation0.50 0.44 1.58
6.76 17.430.66 1.06 8.59 0.36
lncome
Losses
TOTAL
0.54 3.O2 8.54Structural1.36 1.06 2.56
12.43 28.114.93 3.89 5.53 1.35Non-
Structural
10.960.70 2.35 0.84 5.97Content1.10
0.15 0.02 0.63lnventory0.00 0.0 0.46
21.44 48.25TOTAL7.38 5.64 10.90 2.89
Capital
Stock
Losses
Single Other
Residential Commercial lndustrial Others TotalAreaFami
Chapter 4: Hazard ldentification and Risk Assessment 119
