2025 Hazard Mitigation Plan
Kittitas County, Washington

Chapter 5: Mitigation Strategy 222
Among the six (6) highest ranking hazards, the committee identified structural projects, as appropriate,
for the following hazards – wildfire and flood (Table 5-2).
5.2.6. Public Information
Public information activities advise property owners, potential property owners, and visitors about the
hazards, ways to protect people and property from the hazards, such as floodplains and the wildfire
hazard areas. Examples include:

• Map Information
• Outreach Projects
• Real Estate Disclosure
• Library
• Technical Assistance
• Environmental Education

Steering Committee Discussion: The committee identified that public information activities are
particularly appropriate for all of the six (6) highest ranking natural hazards (Table 5-2). The Flood Control
Zone District provides outreach for flood hazard outreach and technical assistance. Furthermore, wildfire
hazard education is facilitated through the Fire Adapted Communities coalition. Additionally, burn ban
signage and fire risk information on mobile boards educates visitors about wildfire risk.
Table 5-2.
